Harley-Davidson has released its 2023 motorcycle lineup in India, including special 120th Anniversary editions of its Softail and Touring models.
Sportster range
Harley-Davidson’s latest model line-up for 2023 has been introduced in India, which includes the Nightster, Nightster Special, and Sportster S under the new Sportster range.
The ex-showroom prices of these bikes are Rs 17.49 lakh, Rs 18.29 lakh, and Rs 18.79 lakh, respectively.
It is worth noting that the new models are mechanically similar to their predecessors.
The Sportster S model is available for purchase in a range of colors, including midnight crimson, white sand pearl, mineral green metallic, vivid black, and stone-washed white pearl.
Sportster S Design
The styling of the 2023 Sportster S remains unchanged, featuring a distinct look that includes a single-pod headlight, compact fuel tank, single-pod instrument cluster, flat handlebar, rider-only saddle, twin-pod exhaust, and fat-profile tires.
According to the company, the 2023 Harley-Davidson Sportster S retains its 1,252cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine.
The bike’s exhaust is made of 304-series stainless steel, which is corrosion-resistant.
Sportster S Engine
The 2023 Harley-Davidson Sportster S is equipped with a six-speed gearbox and powered by a 1,252cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine that delivers a maximum output of 120.6bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 125Nm at 6,000rpm.
According to the company, the engine provides a claimed fuel economy of 5.1 litres/100 km (19.60 kmpl).
The 2023 Sportster S comes with a comprehensive list of features, including full-LED lighting, a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display that works with a dedicated smartphone application, a USB charger, and a range of rider aids.
These rider aids include ABS with a cornering function, a lean-sensitive traction control system, a cornering drag-torque slip control system, and a wheel lift mitigation function.
Other key mechanical features
The 43mm upside-down front forks and rear monoshock take care of the suspension. Both the front forks and rear monoshock are adjustable for compression, rebound, and preload.
The 2023 Harley-Davidson Sportster S features a single disc with a four-piston caliper at the front and a single rotor with a single-piston caliper at the back for handling braking tasks.
Nightster
The Nightster Special is equipped with a front cowl, a passenger seat and a footrest as standard, and features a 975cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine that delivers a maximum power of 88.5bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 95Nm at 5,750rpm.
The manufacturer claims that the motorcycles will deliver a fuel efficiency of 18 kmpl.
In terms of hardware, the bikes are equipped with front forks, twin rear springs, and single discs on both front and rear wheels.
As for safety features, the range includes traction control, ABS, and multiple riding modes such as road, rain, sport, and custom.
The standard model of the motorcycle is offered in two colours – Vivid Black and Redline Red.
On the other hand, the Special model is available in four colour options – Vivid Black, Black Denim, Bright Billiard Blue, and Industrial Yellow.
The most affordable colour option is Vivid Black, which is priced at Rs. 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
The other colour options are priced at a premium of Rs. 14,000 over the Vivid Black variant.
Softail
The Softail series consists of the Fat Bob 114, which used to retail for Rs 20.49 lakh but is now priced at Rs 24.49 lakh in India.
It does not come with the anniversary paint scheme as standard, but if a customer wishes to have it, Harley-Davidson will charge an additional Rs 1.5 lakh for it.
“The Heritage Classic is priced at Rs 26.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Those who desire a special 120th Anniversary edition paint job will have to pay an additional Rs 1.5 lakh.
The Touring models, namely the Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special, are the most expensive motorcycles in Harley-Davidson’s India line-up.”
Touring range
The Touring range from the American motorcycle manufacturer includes two models – the Street Glide Special and the Road Glide Special, priced at Rs 37.49 lakh and Rs 40.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
The Anniversary edition of these models is also available at an additional cost of Rs 2.5-3 lakh.
Harley-Davidson has announced updates to its Pan America 1250 Special ADV for the 2023 model year.
The bike is priced at Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), with the option to add wire-spoke wheels with tubeless tyres for an additional Rs 1 lakh.
