PM Modi unveils Bharat 6G Vision Document to Boost Digital India Mission

The Bharat 6G Vision document was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 22nd, along with the launch of a 6G test bed.

During the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) area office and Innovation Centre, with the aim of promoting creativity, capacity development, and rapid technological adoption in the country.

Alongside this, he also unveiled the Bharat 6G Vision document and launched the 6G R&D Test Bed.

During his inauguration speech, PM Modi expressed his satisfaction at the commencement of significant developments related to telecom, ICT, and innovation in India on the first day of the new year.

He also announced the launch of the 6G test bed.

What Is Bharat 6G Vision Document And 6G Test Bed?

According to an official statement, the Bharat 6G vision document was created by the Technology Innovation Group on 6G (TIG-6G), which was formed in November 2021.

The group comprises officials from Ministries/Departments, experts from research and development institutions, academia, standardization bodies, telecom service providers, and businesses.

TIG-6G has developed a roadmap and action plans for 6G in India.

According to the Centre, the 6G Test Bed will offer a platform for academic institutions, industry players, start-ups, MSMEs, and others to test and verify emerging ICT technologies.

The Bharat 6G Vision Document and the 6G Test Bed, taken together, will establish a conducive ecosystem for innovation, capacity building, and accelerated technology adoption in India.
