New Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway is Now open for Travel (See Travel Time)

On 12th March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.

The newly built 118-kilometer long expressway is expected to significantly reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru,

cutting it down from the previous 3.5 hours to approximately 1.5 hours.

Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway To Reduce Travel Time to One Hour Only

The ongoing project involves the six-laning of NH-275 section connecting Bengaluru, Nidaghatta and Mysuru, aimed at expediting the region’s socioeconomic development.

The high-speed corridor, which spans 61 km between Nidaghatta and Mysore and 58 km between Bengaluru and Nidaghatta, is being constructed in two phases.

The newly built expressway features various infrastructure, including eight kilometer elevated corridors, 42 small bridges, 64 underpasses, 11 overpasses, four Road-Over-Bridges (ROBs), and five bypasses.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed at the event that with this new expressway, it will be possible to travel from Bengaluru to Mysuru in just one hour,

and the proposed ₹17,000 crore ring road in Bengaluru will facilitate direct travel to Mysuru, thus attracting more tourists and generating employment opportunities.

PM To Lay Cornerstone For Four Lane Highway Between Mysuru and Hushalnagar

Furthermore, the prime minister inaugurated the construction of a four-lane highway that will connect Mysuru and Hushalnagar during the same event.

This 92 km long road project is expected to cost about 4,130 crore and will significantly improve connectivity between Kushalnagar and Bengaluru, reducing travel time from around 5 hours to just 2.5 hours.

PM Modi also dedicated IIT Dharwad to the nation in Hubbali-Dharwad, which he had laid the foundation stone for in February 2019.

The institute offers B.Tech., BS-MS, M.Tech., and Ph.D. programmes at a cost of over 850 crore.

Additionally, he inaugurated the world’s longest railway platform at Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station, which is 1507 metres long and was constructed for roughly Rs. 20 crores.

Lastly,

The electrification of the Hosapete – Hubballi – Tinaighat section and the upgrading of Hosapete station were also inaugurated by the prime minister to improve connectivity in the area.
