During its “Stream On” event in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Spotify unveiled several new features for both creators and fans, one of which is the “Discovery Mode”.
This feature is set to be launched soon in India and allows artists and their teams to select priority songs, which Spotify will then use to shape personalized listening sessions through its algorithms.
According to a statement by the company, this mode will be directly accessible within the Spotify for Artists platform.
Spotify Founder and CEO, Daniel Ek, stated that the company is committed to providing its users with the best possible experience, a place where they can develop their careers, thrive, grow, and inspire others through their creativity.
During the event, the company unveiled a “reimagined” interface for the platform that incorporates new visuals and an entirely new, interactive design.
This redesigned version of Spotify has started to roll out to its over 500 million monthly active users in waves.
Additionally, the new version features a “Smart Shuffle” feature that enables users to seamlessly inject new music that complements their existing playlists with just the tap of a button.
According to Gustav Soderstrom, Co-President and Chief Product & Technology Officer at Spotify, nearly half of all users’ streams are driven by the platform’s recommendations.
He also stated that when listeners follow a creator on Spotify, they tend to listen to five times more of their music on average.
In addition, the company showcased a revamped version of “Spotify for Podcasters” that consolidates all of the platform’s podcast creator tools into a single location to aid in the creation, management, and growth of podcast content.
According to Spotify, this year’s update reveals that an increasing number of artists are achieving success on the platform, with the number of artists generating $1 million or more and those generating $10,000 or more more than doubling over the past five years.
