Gorakhpur:
In 2022, a new air service started from Gorakhpur to many places. In January 2023, the new and state-of-the-art terminal of the Airport Authority of India will be ready for the people of Purvanchal.
Its foundation was laid this year. After which, the possibilities of air service expansion will increase even more.
Eleven flights of Indigo, SpiceJet, and Air India from Gorakhpur daily. Fly to Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Lucknow, and Prayagraj.
Air service started for these places
Four flights to Delhi, three to Mumbai, and one flight each to Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Prayagraj take off from Gorakhpur airport.
Apart from this, preparations are on to start air service from Gorakhpur to Chennai, Goa, Bhubaneswar, and many other cities soon.
What did the director of the airport say?
Airport director AK Dwivedi said that along with the facilities at the airport, there had been a huge increase in the number of passengers.
Last year about seven lakh passengers traveled. This year has crossed last year’s figure, and in the coming new year, air service will get the further expansion.
This work will be done in the new year
After the new terminal building at the airport starts in January 2023, airlines can start flight facilities to many more cities.
In the new year, the construction of a new building can start on the land received from the army.
A subway will be built from the parking lot to the terminal building. Taxi facilities will be started from the airport to different places.
In 2014-15, 26 thousand of passengers traveled by air from Gorakhpur airport. In the year 2018-19, 2.80 lakh people traveled by air.
In the year 2019-20, this number increased to 5.50 lakhs. In 2021, these 7 lakh people traveled, and in 2022, the figure of 7 lahks was crossed.
After the arrival of the Yogi government, air connectivity has improved from the airport to other places.
