In the status section of Whatsapp, the most used messaging platform in the world, users can share media and text for 24 hours.
The app has made many changes to this feature, which works like Instagram or Facebook Stories.
The good news is that the new changes are being rolled out to all users and should be rolling out to everyone in the next few weeks. Let us see what has changed in the WhatsApp Status feature.
Now you will get better privacy than before
It will now be easier to hide WhatsApp status updates from selected contacts or share them with them.
With the new settings, users can decide to whom their status updates are shown. The last audience choice will be marked as the default setting.
Will be able to put voice notes in status
Users are also allowed to share voice notes besides photo-video and text in the status.
Users will be able to transmit audio clips of up to 30 seconds on their level, with which it will be easier to express themselves. These audio clips will also automatically disappear after 24 hours.
Reactions to status are just like messages
After long tapping on messages from WhatsApp, an option is given to react with the help of emojis, and now a similar opportunity is being provided for status updates.
Users have to swipe up to respond to a status update, and eight emojis will be shown. Quick reactions can be given by tapping on these emojis.
The ring will be visible when the status update comes
Earlier, to see the WhatsApp status, one had to go to the status section separately, and the information about sharing status updates by a user was not available individually.
As soon as a user in the chat list shares a status update, the ring will appear on their profile photo. Status can be easily seen by tapping on this ring.
A preview of the shared links will appear
A major change has also been made to sharing links in WhatsApp status. Now, if a user shares a link in their WhatsApp status, others will also be shown a visual preview of the link content.
Such a preview is only visible when a connection is sent in a message. With this preview, you will get an idea of the link’s content even before tapping on it.
