The Indian automobile market has already seen a wave of new car launches in the first half of 2024, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down.
With over 10 new models expected to hit the market before the year ends, here’s a look at some of the most anticipated launches.
Tata Motors: Curvv ICE and Nexon CNG
Tata Motors is gearing up for a couple of significant launches. The Tata Curvv ICE, available in both petrol and diesel variants, is set to launch on 2nd September 2024.
Following this, Tata will introduce the Nexon CNG, which will be India’s first CNG vehicle to feature a 1.2L turbo petrol engine and dual-cylinder technology.
Hyundai and MG: Facelifts and Electric Vehicles
In September, Hyundai will debut the 2024 facelift of its popular Alcazar model, with minor updates to the exterior and interior.
The engine options will remain the same, offering a 160bhp 1.5L turbo petrol and a 116bhp 1.5L diesel. MG will also make headlines with the launch of the Windsor EV on 11th September 2024.
This electric vehicle will be available with two battery options—37.9kWh and 50.6kWh. Additionally, an updated version of the MG Gloster is expected by the end of the year, featuring slight cosmetic enhancements while retaining its current powertrain.
Kia and Maruti Suzuki: New Generations and Flagship EVs
Kia will make a big splash on 3rd October with the launch of its flagship EV9 electric SUV. Alongside this, the next-gen Carnival will also be revealed, offering significant updates while continuing with the 2.2L diesel engine.
The EV9 is expected to be a premium offering, arriving as a fully imported model with an estimated price of around Rs 1 crore.
Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the new-generation Dzire between September and October 2024.
The new Dzire will share its platform and design with the recently launched 2024 Swift and will be powered by the Z-Series 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine.
Honda and Mahindra: Compact Sedans and Electric SUVs
Honda is set to unveil the new-generation Amaze between December 2024 and January 2025.
This compact sedan will borrow design elements from Honda’s global lineup and may include a larger touchscreen infotainment system.
Finally, Mahindra will introduce the XUV e8, an electric version of the XUV700, by December 2024.
This model will be the first Mahindra vehicle to utilize the brand’s new INGLO skateboard platform.
